WORLD DEVELOPMENT MOVEMENT - Free International Development Campaigning Workshops
What: World Development Movement - Liverpool Campaigner Convention
When: Saturday 12th November, 10.30am - 4.30pm
Where: Friends Meeting House - 65 Paradise Street, L1 3BP
Baffled by the G8 debt deal? Want to know what happens at the end of Make Poverty History? Want to know more about where your aid money goes? Come and meet like-minded people, share ideas and information, learn more about the issues and join the debate on how best to win justice for the world's poor.
Leading International Development Campaigners the World Development Movement (WDM) are hosting a free day of campaigning workshops and discussion. WDM lobby decision makers to change the policies that keep people poor. We research and promote positive alternatives and work alongside people in the developing world who are standing up to injustice.
Join us in Liverpool this Saturday 12th November
Workshops include:
- Debt and democracy: Find out what the G8 debt deal really means and how the economic conditions attached deny democracy to the global south.
- Dirty Aid, Dirty Water: The latest on WDM's campaign to stop UK funded privatisation turning off the taps.
- Globalisation for beginners: Debt, aid, trade, development. Find out how it all fits together and where you come in.
- Think Local: Building activism in your community.
- Get Crafty: Creative banner and prop-making.
Stalls include Liverpool WDM Group, Friends of the Earth, One World shop, CND, Fair Trade Education and CAFOD.
To reserve a free place contact Katharine on 0800 328 2153 or register online at www.wdm.org.uk/convention
