Weekend flights to double at Farnborough?
Keith Parkins | 08.11.2005 16:22 | Ecology | Globalisation | Social Struggles | London
TAG Aviation have applied to double the number of weekend and bank holiday flights at Farnborough Airport from 2,500 per annum to 5,000 per annum.
'As it is an essential commercial requirement to loosen the restriction on weekend aircraft movements to allow a total of 5,000 movements at weekends and bank holidays per annum, no alternatives have been considered.' -- TAG Aviation

If you live in Mytchett, copy your comments to Surrey Heath Council (ref 05/1030).
As coverage in the local press has shown, there has been a failure to properly notify affected local residents.
My understanding, and I am awaiting confirmation from Rushmoor Head of Planning Keith Holland, that only those 200m either side of the Public Safety Zone have officially been notified. This does not cover those affected by noise and who will be affected were condition 11 of the original planning consent be relaxed to allow a doubling of weekend movements to 5,000 per annum.
The application is likely to be put before the Rushmoor planning committee sometime in January. We need the meeting to be packed.
There is to be a meeting of the Farnborough Airport Consultation Committee, 2pm Thursday 17 November 2005, BAE Systems Office in Farnborough.

This is a last minute switch from previously agreed date, to wrong-foot opponents to TAG's expansion plans. There is never any publicity or notice of these meetings, even though open to the public and the only rationale of FACC is consultation with the local community.
FACC have agreed to meet in private one hour before the publicly declared time to receive a secret briefing from TAG on their expansion plans.
