The new Social Centre near the City Centre in Glasgow at George's Cross opened on Monday 26th of September 2005. It is a friendly, tidy and light space with comfy wooden flooring and appealing interior colours, design and furniture. The same space was used some years before as the "John Mclean" Centre. Downstairs are the kitchen, the main room and toilet, a little library and on the walls there are lots of pictures and stories of the recent local community history day.
Upstairs work is still in progress and the room is prepared as an office and computer and internet access space.

Forthcoming events include a Street Medic Training from 11th- till 13th of November at Kinning Park.
Previous events included a Local People's History Day, featuring photographic memories and story-telling.

The Social Centre states that its main aims are; "to engage local people in running the space, dealing with the issues that affect there community and enjoying community events of their own making."

Regular meetings in the evening include the IWW, Clydeside Branch, the GAP meetings on Mondays at 7pm and Critical Mass.
There is also a benefit T-Shirt "Nae Maer Pish" for sale to support the Social Centre.
