Irish Anti-Shell activists - speaking tour and benefit party

London Rising Tide | 01.11.2005 11:20 | Rossport Solidarity | Ecology | London

Irish activists will be touring the UK during November to increase awareness of the struggle to prevent the giant Shell Consortium from building a dangerous, raw gas pipeline and refinery on unstable bog land in County Mayo.

The pipeline and refinery raise serious public health and safety issues and will devastate remote conservation areas on the north west coast of Ireland.

There are two events coming up in London where you can find out more and get involved with the UK solidarity campaign.:

Rampart Street social centre will be hosting a benefit gig on Saturday Nov 12th, 7.30pm 'til 2am, with all proceeds to the Irish campaign. The evening kicks off with a talk given by Mayo speakers, films, Q&A/discussion followed by benefit party 'til late with veggie cafe, bar, live music & DJ's. Check www.rampart.co.nr for further details coming soon. The evening will also be remembering the 10th anniversary of executed anti-Shell activists Ken Saro-Wiwa and his 8 colleagues in Nigeria, 1995. (www.remembersarowiwa.com)
