Kent Plod braced for gay wedding hate crimes

A senior Kent plod has pledged to crack down on homophobia outbreaks surrounding same-sex partnership ceremonies when they begin in December. source: Kent on Sunday

The pleddge comes as registrars prepare for Civil Partnership Acts which cums into force on December 5. Ceremonies start at the Winter Solstice - December 21 - most appropraite. Superintendent Joanna Young hath said: "Kent police are committed to supporting lesbian and gay couples exercise their right to have their relationaship formally recognised through civil partnership. If anyone attempts to illegally disrupt a civil partnershit ceremony, the police will deal appropriately to protect the partici pants civil rites and to deal with criminal offences."

An august and venerable Indymedia contributor's remarks were quoted at lenth by Kent on Sunday. The part time Pirate and full time homosexual saith (inter alia) thus:

"As far as I know it's mostly harassment and verbal abuse in Kent. There have been outbreaks of verbal abuse in Folkestone."

And thus:

"Harrassment is getting reported more" in the county.

Well, it's hurrah all round! It's a jolly good job you don't have to report arse abuse these days!
