Burn Thatcher & Blair in effigy on 5 November in Hackney's London Fields

PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

29 OCTOBER 2005

CLASS WAR BONFIRE NIGHT – BURN THATCHER ON LONDON
FIELDS

Class War are hosting a bonfire night at London Fields
on Saturday, 5 November. Four hundred years after the
Gunpowder Plot, we are modernising the guys –
Margaret Thatcher and Tony Blair will be burned in
effigy. People are encouraged to bring along their own
effigies – starting with Hackney’s own Jules Pipe,
Diane Abbott and Meg Hillier. It’s nice to know
they’re good for something!

Hackney Council aren’t holding a firework display this
year, so Class War are willing to step into the gap.
Bring friends, fireworks, firewood, and a couple of
bottles – and effigies – to London Fields, 7 for
7.30pm, Saturday 5 November.

NOTES FOR EDITORS:

1) Further details available from Hugh Owen on 07986
041 207
2) This is a one of a series of events which will
culminate in a party in Trafalgar Square at 6pm on the
Saturday after Thatcher dies.

London Fields is a dramatically beautiful park

in Hackney, East London. It is classified as a common and the lighting of fires is therebye lawfully permitted. A truly splendid location for this event, but do be aware of the cricket pitch in the northernmost meadow - no fires here please.

If people want to be really radical then they should have the bonfire in Parliament Sqaure! That would really put the shit up the state and the authorities! Remember MayDay 2000 ???
