Nov 2nd: the WORLD can't wait

Mercurious Britannicus | 19.10.2005 17:51

If it is true that the world cannot wait for positive change and for the removal of the corrupt Bush regime in US, is it any less true that the world cannot wait for positive change and for the removal of the corrupt Blair regime in the UK?

Is anything happening here in the UK for November 2nd?

Here's the party line I'm seeing around me:

a) we have reached a nadir in this country's politics. Our government is corrupt, nepotistic, run by croneys, authoritarian and dangerous - it prizes style over substance, it has dragged us into one illegal and immoral conflict, is looking to build up our nuclear programme for no good reason, and is fomenting conflict with Iran.

b) we march, protest, agitate, dissent, and 'nothing happens.'

Well, I've had enough of this. I agree with a) but not b).

I'm sick to death of b).

Things DO happen and ARE happening and they are happening globally. Every single dissenting action any of us makes, and every demand we make, makes a difference.

What we do here has effects on other parts of the world. As citizens we have a duty to interrogate the misuse of power and interrogate it remorselessly.

In the US the resistance to corrupt war corporatism is waking up again after the depression caused by the last presidential election.

We need to wake up here too.

Can we unite a little more and stop squabbling about tactics and what the name of our little group is?

Anyone who is moving, good luck and godspeed you black and white emperors.

Anyone who isn't moving, and is grumbling, carping, moaning, lamenting - shut your mouth and get moving.

Yes, there are rainclouds everywhere.

But there are rainbows and silver linings lurking within them.

COME ON!
