Conservative Party Commits Suicide

George Orwell | 18.10.2005 17:00 | London

Hurrah! The Tories have committed suicide!

It is with absolutely no regret that the Conservative and Unionist Party have committed suicide by rejecting the one candidate who could have beaten Blair or Brown.

Once again Thatcherite ideology rather than common sense has prevailed amongst conservative MP's. The only possible downside of this event is that New Labour may well win the next election just to keep-out right-wing loonies like Fox, Davis or Cameron.

It just shows how irrelevant and out of touch that they have become to vote for right-wing nutters when the entire country is to the left of Tony Blair. It is as if Militant Tendency had got hold of the Labour Party and Degsey Hatton was up for leader.

But let us not be sad at such a time. Let us dance - on their political grave and hope that Maggie is next!

How many times can they commit suicide???

Well said George!

This'll make you chuckle:

Former Coronation Street pin-up Adam Rickitt has been selected as a potential Conservative MP.

All we need is for Kilroy to rejoin NewLabour and go for leadership.

Can it get any more absurd???

magoo

Ah But

Magoo, don't be hasty. It would be great if the Tories got in at Westminster. We'll see Holyrood at permanent war with them, SNP votes will rise, and independence here we come! Especially now the oil is starting to run out...

perhaps the Conservatives HAD BEEN politically killed in 1997

Or, perhaps the Conservatives HAD BEEN politically killed in 1997 !

How else could so many
‘elected’ “....heads” in the
House of Commons be so
comprehensively stupid for so long !!!

Ken Clarke was never my
principle of politician but he remains the only leader that can shake the political
stalemate in this country.

How wrong have those idiots have been !

PS:
Why did both the BBC and ITV so 'mysteriously' clamber on board the David
Ca-moron ‘suicide wagon’?
Why, despite obviously
unique popularity in the country, did they DROP Clarke so soon after the Ca-Moron mystery wagon’s launch halfway through the
Tories’ 2005 Blackpool shindig?

Insighter!

Conservative party suicide

Just to remind Big BadBoab and others that the Tories ARE ALREADY in at Westminster.
This pathetic right wing conservative lot are probably, by now, mostly new labour wannabees.
What a feckin pathetic state we are in, eh?.
How about some real representation sometime? Bring on Proportional representation or bring on self governance.

Down with Brown!

so long as extremist conservative MP's vote with Blair, the leader is irrelevant

UNQUOTE

The entire Conservative party is ALSO to the left of Blair, but then so would Hitler and Ghengis Khan if alive today.

The Conservatives have only a very faded relevance, now Howard has done the impossible in Blair's service, and delivered a Conservative vote at the last election THAT DID NOT INCREASE from the previous one, despite the DIVE in Blair's 'popularity'.

The Conservative leader of tomorrow can be any slob that will NOT prevent a good junk of conservative MP's in Westminister voting WITH Blair on his key, extremist issues. Enough conservative MP's have an instinct for racism, zionism, corruption, and war (at the expense of dark-skinned humans), that under most circumstances Blair can assume that they will compensate for some of the 'wobblers' within his New Reich ranks. Only a new Conservative leader capable of stealing these votes from Blair would be of concern, and THAT situation is happening with ZERO probability.

But I do live in a country with a PR type voting system. Give a considerably larger share of seats to previously unrepresented small parties such as the SSP (now self-destructing, but there you go), Greens, the Tories (hahahaha), and several independents. We're going to introduce a similar system for local authorities too.

Yeah but....

PR also means BNP politicians get elected and no one wants them in power, apart from New Labour who can lead the opposition to them and need the distraction.

The price of Scotlands loyalty to New Labour is that 40% of all frontline British infantry during the Gulf War were Scots but Scots only make up 8.6% of the population of Britain.

Do you call that a fair deal for Scotland?

George Orwell

"fair deal"

19.10.2005 17:20

Defence is a power "reserved" by the Westminster parliament, i.e. Holyrood has no say in the number of scots soldiers sent abroad.

We got more bases, most of the nuclear shite to do with Trident, etc. Scotland's always been a dumping / recruiting ground for the UK military. Some of us get personal benefit from it, though.

How many BNP MSPs are there?

Besides, are you against the principals of democracy?

Freedom of representation for all!
