WOMEN IN BLACK VIGIL
On Saturday, 22 October 2005 between 2 and 3 pm there will be a Women in
Black Silent Vigil at Bonn Square. We are protesting the continuing
onslaught on our civil liberties as proposed in the Terrorism
Bill, specifically pointing out the following policies either already in
force in the UK or being currently proposed:
* Police shoot to kill
* Suspects detained without charge for 3 months or more
* Freedom of speech constrained
* Government interception of email and phone calls used as evidence in
court
* Individuals forced to carry ID cards and pay for them
* Communities set against each other
* Homes of innocent people searched in their absence
* Atmosphere of chronic fear and suspicion created
* Police conduct raids at dawn.
Women in Black is a world-wide network of women committed to peace with
justice and actively opposed to injustice, war, militarism and other forms
of violence.
