Women Of Nigeria International
PRESS RELEASE
The Commission for Africa; The G-8 Summit; Sir Bob Geldof’s Live 8 to draw attention to Poverty in Africa and the Campaign to make Poverty History in Africa has come and gone.
WHAT NEXT?
For the international initiative to materialise, there is a need to engage AFRICAN GOVERMENTS and the international community and Africans in particular to maximise the window of opportunity in the realisation of an
“AFRICAN AGENDA” for the reduction of poverty in Africa.
To set the African agenda in line with the Millennium Development Goals, Women of Nigeria International (WONI) is organising a discussion evening for African Heads of Governments and the African people in the Diaspora especially, to discuss the following issues which are critical to the agenda:
v Conflict resolutions and the proliferation of small arms
v Good governance
v Corruption (prevention of money laundering)
v Empowering African women in the quest for poverty reduction
At the end of the evening, Africans should come up with the African agenda for meeting the Millennium Development Goals, paving the way for the Commission for Africa and others.
Should Africa continue to lag behind in the global developmental agenda?
The African agenda is a global agenda, PLEASE SUPPORT/CONTRIBUTE.
