Oxford Action Resource Center (OARC) due to close through lack of funds

Funding the alternative?

OARC will be starting to wind down and close in November as we agreed at a funding meeting a few months (check e-mail archives for details). As we have exhausted our budget for core funding and will have to dip into reserve funds to keep it open. Over the year of operation we have raised .

* £100 for core funding
* And donations have covered the day to day running costs

- We initially received a £10,000 anonymous donation to run the project sustainable at its outset.
- Our outgoings are around £200 a month on rent for the room.

(the may be a little more money than this and it would help if some one in the know could post this as a comment)

If there were concrete activities put into fund raising as a priority than the reserve funds could keep the OARC center open for a few more months until the money cames in:

* foundation and grant funding tends to take at least 6 months to come through.
* gig and event funding is more immediate.
* work exchange funding is possibly available at the EOCC

I hope this is informative, please post constructive comments and ideas.
