According to the Justice for Colombia website, a general strike is expected in the country on October 12th in protest against the continual repression of Trade Unionists and the free trade negotiations etc...

In view of recent protests which have been fired upon by the authorities with live rounds of ammunition, you might want to send the Vice President a polite reminder that the Colombians are well within their right to protest.
