There is a new protest camp which has been set up in Burgess Park Camberwell South London just off Church Road on the south side of the park. They need our help now.

The protest is against the planned tram route across the park

The planed cross river tram, which will run from Peckham and Brixton in South London via Waterloo to Camden and King's Cross in North London will cross Burgess Park. The Friends of Burgess Park support a tram for South London, but are extremely concerned that the chosen route will do huge damage to the park by bisecting it at its widest point, with ballasted track that looks like a railway line. This will greatly reduce the amenity value of the park. We are campaigning for the tram route to make use of existing transport infrastructure through the park, just as it does elsewhere on the route.
