To make the public a little more giving, you should tell us why the protest camp was set up, without that you wont get much support.

Even though I'm not a Londoner I know Burgess park- specially love the little international/multicultural garden bit... so would be interested to know why youse is protesting???

I wondered down there and found the camp - the guy who was there says that its just a place to kip and didn't know about any protest - there certainly aren't any banners, leaflets or anything else to suggest that there is a protest going on.

Surprised you don't just ask straight out for ketamine, smack etc instead of disguising your den as some kind of mysterious protest.

The Mayor of London announced on 29 May 2002 that the Cross River Tram, from Peckham to Camden via Burgess Park will go ahead, with a planned completion. date of 2011. The possible routes of this tram across the park are shown as purple lines on the master plan below.

The planed cross river tram, which will run from Peckham and Brixton in South London via Waterloo to Camden and King's Cross in North London will cross Burgess Park. The Friends of Burgess Park support a tram for South London, but are extremely concerned that the chosen route will do huge damage to the park by bisecting it at its widest point, with ballasted track that looks like a railway line. This will greatly reduce the amenity value of the park. We are campaigning for the tram route to make use of existing transport infrastructure through the park, just as it does elsewhere on the route.
