Concerns about editorial guidelines or queries about moderation are dealt with on the imc-uk-features list. These issues are not dealt with through the newswire, and newswire posts on these topics will be hidden.
Newswire Open Posting Guidelines
articles and/or comments may be hidden for the following reasons:
Repeated : content that is reposted or text that was originally a comment posted as a report.
Non-news : posts which are clearly purely comment, opinion or rants unrelated to a recent event or action etc.
Discrimination : posts using language, imagery, or other forms of communication promoting racism, fascism, xenophobia, sexism, homophobia or any other form of discrimination.
Inaccurate : posts that are inaccurate or misleading.
Advertising : posts with personal or product promotions.
Hierarchy : The newswire is designed to generate a news resource, not a notice-board for political parties or any other hierarchically structured organizations.
Disruptive : Contributions by individuals who habitually publish above mentioned discouraged content. Posts where topical or regional selections disrupts the utility of the sub pages (ie spamming regional and topic selections).
Reposts : Articles that are simply pasted from corporate news sites. Please write something original, by all means link to articles elsewhere and quote from them but don't just copy them.
Anti-semitic comments breach the discrimination guidelines.

WHAT A SURPRISE

Anti-semitic comments breach the discrimination guidelines.
UNQUOTE
IMC volunteer, is there a GOOD reason why you chose to make this very OFFENSIVE emphasis, when the general body of rules had already covered all groups.
When i visit ANY news outlet, discussion group, or source of comment, there is ONE OVERWHELMING PROBLEM. That problem is anti-Muslim, anti-Arab comment targetted at people because of their ethnic background. Most of this comment is orchestrated by Israelis, and their supporters, especially in the USA, USSR, France, Canada, Australia, AND MUCH OF IT IS RACISM OF THE VILEST KIND.
SO WHY DO YOU MAKE THE JEWS A SPECIAL CASE, WHEN YOUR GENERAL GUIDELINES ALREADY COVER THEM- THIS IS ***NOT*** 1936.
Today, one group, and one group alone, should be given heightened protection (on the basis of immediate risk, and likelyhood of racist comment). Of course, I bet IMC volunteer is UNCONCERNED that he/she cannot name the equivalent term for 'anti-semitic' when refering to the horrific persecution suffered by the ethnic peoples of the Earth often associated with the muslim faith.
But then, some people are the 'chosen-people', and some other people can be mass murdered without apparent concern.
RACISM IS THE IDEA THAT SOME PEOPLE ARE INHERENTLY MORE IMPORTANT THAN OTHERS. IT IS TIME INDYMEDIA MADE MORE OF AN EFFORT TO AVOID THIS.

Says who?

You say that this is not a forum ... have heard said that:
'this is not a free speech site' ... meely mouthed nonsense.
If the people that use this site, use it in the way they want, who are you to prevent it?
Do you, volunteer, OWN this site?
Who does?
Over the years I have seen a lot of articles hidden ... some vanished ... a lot of comments pulled. If there were a pattern to it, perhaps one might contend with it ... unfortunately it seems to be on the current whim of vauge definitions.
What is heirarchy?
Not one single 'imc voluteer' has ever addressed the point I have raised repeatedly on 'your list' about the heirarchal nature of restricting veiws to hidden articles by 'hidding' them behind A VERY STUPID AND ANNOYING graphic so that those with sight problems have no chance of reading them.
We are all grown ups here ... although that much is hard to tell sometimes. Why must we suffer under the dictat of 'lowest common denominator' policing ... no discussion about anything not accepted as the current paradigm (chemtrails, electromagnetic weapons, bilderbergs etc etc).
An illuminating reply ... probably guard down at the time ... suggests of possible state intervention should 'things get out of hand' ... yeah that's about right ... start advocating solutions not fitting in with 'acceptable behaviour' and yer out ... suggest a direct liniage of hitler to bush to blair, or mention icke, rense, vallis in less than loathsome terms and yer out ...
REACTIONARY ... look up the definition and then remember the German Pastors poem ... 'when they came for the indymedia awkward squad I said nothing' ...
