Rough Music In Scoundrel Times

Bertie | 25.09.2005 12:16 | Anti-militarism

After seeing four people carrying a yellow paperback in Hyde Park I decided to investigate further.

Rough Music ,the new book by Tariq Ali is a must read for those of us in the movement who want to deepen our understanding of what is happening in Blair's brave new Britain.

The book, dedicated to the memory of the late and much missed Paul Foot is a scathing indictment of Blair and his war gang.

It covers the war in Iraq and the events of July. It takes a good look at the media and the war against civil liberties.
Having found a copy on a stall in Hyde Park I read it on the long journey back to South Wales after the Stop The War demonstration.

Tariq Ali calls for political resistance to the warmongers and after all just as fishmongers sell fish so warmongers sell war.

How about a troupe of rough musicians outside no.10? Would no doubt be highly illegal but was the remedy in the old days for oppressive landlords/sheriffs.
