Bush caught short

from bbc news | 16.09.2005 05:56 | Globalisation

The child-president needs to pee.

It's a situation anyone could find themselves in - having to answer the call of nature in the middle of an important meeting.

But when you are the US president, at a gathering of more than 150 world leaders, it is even more tricky.

While talk at the UN world summit was focused on terrorism and internal reform, George W Bush appeared to have been caught short.

And, he is said to have turned to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for advice.

"I think I may need a bathroom break? Is this possible?" a Reuters news agency photographer caught him writing in a note to Ms Rice.

The photograph, and Mr Bush's apparent request for permission to pee, has been the subject of discussion on a number of satirical websites.

President Bush was among monarchs, presidents and prime ministers for the opening of the three-day summit, marking the 60th anniversary of the UN.

In a speech, he urged the UN to pursue meaningful reforms to allow it to meet modern challenges and said the US was committed to helping overcome poverty.

Perhaps rather then risking the potential of making an idiot of himself *(well more then usual) Bush might have wanted to know what the protocol was on taking a break, perhaps he thought as the American Representative at the summit, if he just walked out, the person currently with the floor might see it as a snub or such like.

Of course there is always the option that Condi is higher up the food chain then bush in the reptilian council :P and he's so under her control he needs permission to carry out evens simple bodily functions.

( or alternatively he might have been feeling fatigued and wanted to pop out to powder his nose, with his favourite narcotic)...

Makes you think doesn't it? Imagine him and his fellow crazies debating one day whether or not to nuke Iran and/or Syria. Poor village idiot has forgotten to take a leak beforehand and so rather than logically thinking about the morality and wisdom of whether to nuke or not, he's mainly thinking about the state of his bladder so he decides to get the meeting over as quick as possible by deciding - yes, press the big red button. I bet all through history, disastrous decisions have been made by incontinent leaders in this way.
