Education Not for Sale network | 07.09.2005 23:49 | Education

The Education Not for Sale Network is urging student unionists and student activists to protest against the National Union of Students leadership's collaboration with the Government pro-top up fees campaign.

In the last month, "socialist" National Union of Students president Kat Fletcher has joined a Government information campaign to promote the policy of top-up fees, feted and applauded Higher Education Minister and endorsed a Tory student candidate pledging to "build an effective opposition to the student left."

The Education Not for Sale network is try to organise a campaign of protest against these sell outs. For more information and an online petition visit www.free-education.org

but remember it was the NUS conference who voted to introduce fees and abolish grants anyway in the first place, their leadership all stary eyed about new graduate jobs in new labour's as then new project, ditching the problematic free education for all policy before the 97 election.

i was there, i saw it. fucking disgusting it was.

Such as (for example):

Jack Straw
Charles Clarke
Trevor Phillips

who became integrated into the New Labour establishment. But I'm surprised her conversion has been so quick. Wasn't she against the Iraq war?

Forget the leadership...

Being betrayed by trade/student union leadership is so 20th century, really... Grants went, fees came, top-up feel came, is it only now that you realise there is a problem with the NUS? And is protesting against the NUS leadership the best think you can think of doing? Gosh, what a lack of imagination!

Occupy your schools, colleges and halls! Form occupation commitees and link up with other occupations! Stop lobbying and take things over!
