"THE DREAM AND THE NIGHTMARE: nuclear science, nuclear weapons and new disarmament strategies"
SPEAKER: PROF. PETER NICHOLLS, University of Essex, and chair of Abolition 2000-UK
After the dismal failure of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Conference in New York in May, due mainly to the implacable and hypocritical stand of the U.S. -- supported by Britain -- it is clear that "civil society" (that's us!) must re-double its efforts to prevent the build-up of nuclear arsenals and the continued acceptance of nuclear weapons as part of military strategy. Professor Nicholls is an expert in disarmament matters -- come and hear his views and take part in a lively discussion.
