Arrests at EU protests in Newport, South Wales

At least two arrests have occured as police cracked down on protests about the EU summit currently taking place in Newport, South Wales

At about ten o'clock this morning police took heavy action against a small number of people, who were having a protest about the EU summit currently taking place in Newport.

Two people so far have been arrested. The whole event was recorded by the BBC. Local residents have stated their shock at the level of policing, and their consequent actions.

Reports are coming in of London Metropoliton Police FIT following and harrasing the remaining protestors.

Both are now released 'without charge'.

Maybe the piggy wigs wanted certain people out of the way! Still better news than remand.

Isn't it rather tedious? can we really not do anything better? how many times, demonstration, anarchists get arrested on purpose, complain about getting arrested and how bad the police are, get arrested next time, 'oh, we're so hardcore,we're such a danger to the state" and other such bollocks. You're not a danger to anything, its the same rather old boring game, same old rules, same old shit. After september 11 and july 7 doesnt direct action seem a little tame? Direct action and demonstrations only take place in a state that recognises human rights and is in fact fairly liberal, and we only play at being rebellious while recognising that the british state wont in fact really do anything particularly bad to us. Is there really no alternative to no brain anarchism and dogmatic marxism?? Now, the anarchists of the 1890s were serious...

Bozo,

The two people who got arrested did not do so 'on purpose'. They were targetted and harrased and forced to the floor because they were wearing a mask which they did not want to remove whilst having a F.I.T camera shoved in their faces. But, hey thanks for your support and its nice to see that you chose to do nothing at all and have proposed nothing at all. ta!

So, apart from getting arrested (how hard!), what did you do? Who cares apart from your friends? Do you really think you are a threat to anything or are you just wasting police time?
