Lap Dancing in Southampton

anon | 31.08.2005 17:07 | Culture | Gender | South Coast

There have been a few new openings of lap dancing clubs in Southampton. One of the more established is applying for its license to be renewed.

Passing the TUSK lap dancing club yesterday i saw that their license is
up for extention. I thought that this would be a good time to at least
write letters to the licensing commision to complain about clubs such
as these. for information on how strip clubs impact directly on women
in the local area go to :  http://www.eaves.ik.com/

letters should be addressed to Licensing team, Southampton City
Council, PO box 1344
SO15 1WQ.

sorry that this is short notice but it needs to be there by tuesday

I accept that there is a discussion to be had but it's not fair to infer that all staff in lapdancing clubs are oppressed victims of some sort. That's simply not true; many are empowered independent women who enjoy a fairly robust income.

None of my stripper friends feel disempowered. Perhaps you should go and speak the the lap dancers and see how they feel? Or are you on some right-wing crusade?

Out of business?

14.09.2005 02:20

It is to my understanding that Tusk in Southampton has recently gone out of business... its employees all not paid, with the boss of the club promising to pay staff, when in fact, he is nowhere to be seen now.... phone lines appear to be engaged all the time... this told to me by a former employee! Don't know how true this is at all... the website is still available... although I recently emailed the club regarding vacancies... still no reply. If anyone could try to back this up, I would be most grateful.

Has the club managed to renew its licence? If not, has it been shut down, either temporarily or permanently?

Lapdancing is harmless!

Why are feminists so against lap-dancing?

The men enjoy the sight of naked women and the women enjoy the money and the attention and admiration.

If I had the physique, I would be a male stripper.

Radical feminists are jealous and psychologically damaged.
