The sun was shining and lots of people had a great time, the policing was totally over the top as usual (the curfew, too many streets sealed off etc) -- the last time there was serious rioting was 1976, IT'S NOT 1977 YOU BONE HEADS.

Another annoying thing was a couple of racists I came across selling corn on the cob on the Golborne Road...

You're right, its not 1977. Maybe you should dial 999 and give them that information. I'm sure they'd find it really useful.

And do you really have to make a reference to a riot when talking about a carnival that’s supposed to celebrate black culture? Is that all you think about? Rioting, police and racists. It seems to me that you were missing the message. Report about the positive things, not the negatives. We've heard it all before.

Real wonderful stuff

I went to the carnival a few years back when I was in London. It was pretty much as I expected. By that I mean it was the single greatest example I've seen of the cultural degredation that this country has endured.

Humpty?

Do go on, Humpty. Whose culture is being degraded?

Maybe you would be happier on stormfront.

G - The Carnival started it '59 in response to the race attacks the previous year, yes of course my report could have been more positive but this is best illustrated by the photos, I'm not such a good writer...

This is worth a read (but the petrol bombs were actually first used by black people IN SELF DEFENCE as far as I know...):

There is lots more stuff on this out there...

Lets hope the party against the arms trade is just as big!

Lets hope that the September the 10th party against the arms trade as part of the week of actions against the Dsei arms fair in Canning Town is just as big. Here is the party website:  http://www.disarm-trade.org

OK so we might not get anything like half a million that the Nottinghill Carnival gets but we should be able to get at least 20,000 if we really put our minds to it!
