Chavez offers Americans cheap fuel

Al Jazeera reports on this interesting PR coup from the Venezuelan socialist leader.

Charismatic (/populist?) Venezuelan leader Chavez has been using his clout on the international stage to attack Bush and the West for a while now.

In perhaps his best move so far he has capitalised on the spiralling oil prices in the US by suggesting that he has plans to offer cheap petrol to poor citizens in the USA.

The president is obviously in control of his countries significant oil assets, and has some petrol companies operating in the US already. If it weren't for pesky capitalism middle-men, Chavez assers, he could give working class Americans a better deal.

The revolution is still international, obviously.

This move comes in response to recent attacks from the US right, and suggestions from the US government that Chavez and Cuba's Castro are stirring up trouble in Latin America.
