British Tourist in Thailand Accosted By Thai Army!

British Tourist in Thailand, Adam Lane, (more details coming) was staying as a guest in the Akha village Pah Nmm in Ampur Mae Fah Luang, Chiangrai Province when another tourist was brought to the village from the Akha village of Hooh Yoh by three Thai soldiers.

The Thai army demanded to look at their passports, took their photos and made them stand outside the Akha house while they searched it inside.

Adam said that they made a lot of noise, banging around and screaming at the old Akha couple who owned the house.

The Akha were shaken and scared. The army said that it was illegal for Akhas to let tourists stay at their house and to never do it again. (The Akha enjoy tourists staying for a small income, give them a bed, cook for them and tell them about Akha life)

Though the Thais don't mind making money off tourism to Akha villages they don't want the Akha making any money off guests coming and staying at their homes.

We demand an explanation from the Thai government over this horrific behaviour.

We have worked for 15 years to make known to the world the brutality of the Thai army to the Akha people. We call for a boycott of all things Thai.

Protect the Human Rights of the Akha people. Prosecute Thailand.
