Another incident. Is housing activist till being targeted?

Yet another incident. How long will I have to wait until these heartless housing association officers decide to move me to adequate accommodation?

Over the last seven moths I have nearly been mugged or kidnapped by what I believe to be local criminals who I don’t know. My car has been petrol bombed and totally burnt out outside my flat. Several other suspicious incidents have taken place over the last seven months and still my housing association Venture Housing and Riverside have made no real efforts to rehouse me. Even though I am now viewed as a so-called harassment tenant and the offers I have been made have been woefully inadequate. Three of them were just around the corner from were I now Live.

Tonight Sunday 14th August 2005 at approximately 10-15 pm another very serious incident took place. The empty housing association house next door was set on fire by arsonists. This empty house belongs to the housing association (also known as Registered Social Landlords) Community 7, which is a subsidiary of the massive Riverside Group. I have done much campaigning in the community against the behaviour of these 2 RSL’s.

Unlike the secretive cops the fireman told us how the fire was started. I told these fireman what had happened to me and they told me: This was not kids, this fire was deliberate arson in as much as the furniture that had been left in practically every room by the previous tenants in this three storey house had to some degree been stacked in the middle of each room and had been systematically set alight as the arsonist left the building from the back. One of the firemen told me that he could smell petrol in the hallway and that he thought petrol had been used to accelerate the initial combustion.

I believe that these two housing associations are making no real attempts to move me from this location because I am a housing activist.

Have you considered complaining to the Housing Corporation or the Local Government Omnbustman(?spelling)
I don't think your landlord is fulfilling their obligations towards you. I'm fortunate enough to have a brilliant landlord(again a RSL) who is understanding.
As long as you are paying your rent(or having it paid on your behalf) then they must hold their part of the bargain. If you are being subject to severe harrasment then they have a duty to protect you from it. It sounds like a case of the corporation being bigger than the people who make it. The Ombustman and Housing Corporation are there to make sure standards are upheld and deal with complaints, whether or not you are an activist should not make any difference.
