Intelligence chiefs warn Blair of 'UK insurgency'

By Raymond Whitaker and Francis Elliott | 09.08.2005 15:49 | Analysis

Intelligence chiefs are warning Tony Blair that Britain faces a full-blown Islamist insurgency, sustained by thousands of young Muslim men with military training now resident in the country.

The grim possibility that the two London attacks were not simply a sporadic terror campaign is being discussed at the highest levels in Whitehall, the centre of the British government.
Fears of a third strike remained high this weekend, based on concrete evidence supplied by an intercepted text message and the interrogation of a terror suspect being held outside Britain, say US reports.
As police and the security services work to prevent another cell murdering civilians, attention is focusing on the pool of migrants to Britain from the Horn of Africa and central Asia.
Intelligence service MI5 is working to an estimate that over 10,000 young men from these regions can use light weapons and military explosives.
A well-connected source said there were more than 100,000 people in Britain from "completely militarised" regions, including Somalia and its neighbours in the Horn of Africa, and Afghanistan and territories bordering the country.
A very high proportion were Muslim men of military age.
"Every one of them knows how to use an AK-47 [automatic rifle]," said the source.
"About 10 per cent can strip and reassemble such a weapon blindfolded, and probably a similar proportion have some knowledge of how to use military explosives. That adds up to tens of thousands of men."
Even though the vast majority had come to Britain to escape the lawlessness of their homelands, the source added, there remained an alarmingly large pool of trained men who could be lured into violent action here.
This threat had been largely neglected while attention focused on British-born militants who had been through training camps run by al Qaeda in Afghanistan.
"There has been a debate on whether we are facing an insurgency or terrorism," said the source, "and the verdict is on the side of an insurgency."
Against this background, as many as 400 more armed police may be recruited in London. Concern has been expressed in the wake of the massive anti-terror operations that the police are being overstretched.
Sir Ian Blair, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, is to recruit hundreds more officers. He warned that his armed officers were suffering from fatigue after weeks of round-the-clock duty.
The Prime Minister, meanwhile, has ordered a government-wide drive to neutralise opposition within the Muslim community to his package of proposed anti-terror measures.

I am also very worried about madmen shooting people in the street and blowing people up in a country they were not born in. You can identify them by their police uniform or by their place of work, Parliament House. Any discussion of shootings or bombings that does not focus on these mass murders excuses their actions.

Are these the same "intelligence sources" which helped Bliar "fix the facts" to provide support for the LIES he told to the British People, in order to wage an illegal war of aggression for profit?

How about he just lays out the still-missing evidence to prove his Conspiracy Theories regarding the recent attacks ...

Wake up folks

At what point do we seriously begin to consider the clear parallels between what is currently happening in the UK and the US and events in Germany leading up to WWII? Using the excuse of a trumped up threat from dangerous groups that were, the NAzis claimed, seeking to sow discord in Germany society, the Nazis slowly imposed totalitarian rule on the German people.

Today, Bush and Blair are using the equally bogus claim that "Islamic extremists" want to destroy Western civilisation and freedom to justify the imposition of a third Reich-sytle regimes in Britain and America, where any and all previously-held social freedoms must give way to the need to protect the people from those that our leaders claim want to take away those freedoms. Coincidentally, this "protection" involves the removal of those same social freedoms by our leaders who claim their goal is to protect them.

It's a mind-job for sure, and Bush and Blair are betting on their subjects' inability to figure it out.

So tell us; how bad does it have to get before we all begin to stand up and point out the large and imposing elephant in the room? Remember, as it was in the case of Nazi Germany, the takeover of a previously Democratic country by a fascist cabal from within occurs in the absence of general awareness that anything untoward is happening.

Precious few German citizens were able to admit to themselves the truth that was staring them in the face, being as they were blinded by the government lies and propaganda that was directed at them daily. Those that did realise were surely only able to do so as a result of careful consideration of the facts, while at the same time dismissing any idealistic notions about what their government SHOULD be or what it would or would not do.

They're trying to escape from 'completely militarised regions'

What really got me about this article was the complete ignorance. There are indeed thousands of men, and women, from militarised regions. They are in Britain to seek asylum because of this! I'm an English Language teacher and in just one of my classes I have several young men who have never been to school because there was too much fighting where they lived. I have another who was a child soldier, I'm sure he knows plenty about guns and I'm sure he never wants to see one ever again, how dare anyone suggest he might want to use the skills he never wanted in the first place to blow up citizens of the country he has fled to. I just thank my lucky stars that at the moment his English isn't good enough to be able to understand the newspapers, in the same way as I'm glad that many of my students can't read the crap written about them all the time in the press.

==> At what point do we seriously begin to consider the clear parallels between what is currently happening in the UK and the US and events in Germany leading up to WWII?

When you provide us with clear evidence of a genocide-programme, and Executive-endorsed demonizing of all members of said ethnic minority. Much as I long to see Blair dipped in marmalade and tied to a termite mound, he has yet to do this. We are much informed that the "vast majority" of Muslims are "peace-loving" - true, though, that anyone who diasagrees with our Beloved Leader receive a tacit accusation of offering succour to the terrorists.

I have encountered directly twats painting all "Mohamaddens" as fundies following a paedophile Prophet (as opposed to Noah), but they were not Tony ~*excuse_me_while_I_spit*~ Blair.

Straw Man

That's a Straw Man, "alec". We're talking about what happened as Hitler was first rising to power. Even noted Academics (I realize how much you Right-Wingers despise Academia ...) have written at length about the clear parallels between today's descent into Fascism, and that of Hitler's Regime.

Disinformation Is A Sign of Weakness

There is fascism and there is genocidal fascism, "Disinformation Is A Sign of Weakness" (pah! At least 'Alec' can be a real name). The former category may have a snappy dress sense, but it doesn't make me any less wary of it. Constant references to "the Hitler years" become as tardy as calling every tom, dick and harry janitor a "tin-pot hitler". Why, oh why can we not call Blair for what he is, and not make emotive references.
