August 7: Parliament Square - MAD

Jason N. Parkinson | 09.08.2005 15:19 | Repression | London

More video of the demonstration at Parliament Square, August 7.

More fun and frolics from Parliament Square, Brian Haw on good form, good words from Crossroads Women's Centre too.

Correction in article: www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2005/08/320707.html

I said the tea bag dumoping was "anti-tax".

It was actually: "no taxation without representation".

"No representation without taxation. The corporations, who
influence the politicians and thus are represented in
Parliament, should have to pay a direct tax which can
then be redistributed to those in need.

"A good way of highlighting the
effect of the corporations on government decisions."

Should Police Conscientiously object to these types of arrest ?

09.08.2005 21:34

Excellent video. Shows stupidity of the law.

Was wondering if Police ever do or can Conscientiously object when asked to enforce such ridiculous law and arrest innocent peaceful people.

There must be some cut off point when they feel they can't do this? Or are they just "Goons" or "Hencemen", as Brian so eloquently put it, that will follow ANY orders ?

Police Union

09.08.2005 22:29

There has been a lot of talk recently, in certain circles, of community rallying together to empower the police to start some kind of union. As it is now, they are completely disempowered and will be majorly fucked if they refuse an order. e.g. It is a criminal offence for a copper to go on strike.

But if a bunch of coppers supported each other, and the community also offered their support, perhaps some cops would then have the balls to refuse these orders which they know darn well are completely immoral.

Just a reminder in case any cops are reading this "Just following orders" is not a legitimate excuse for abusing people's rights. If you are ordered to abuse me by your superiors and you do so, then it is you who is committing the crime...
