Info about national No2ID:
NO2ID is a campaigning organisation opposed to the government's planned ID card and the National Identity Register.

We bring together individuals and organisations from all sections of the community and seek to ensure that the case against identity is forcefully put forward in the media, in the corridors of power and at grassroots level.

We hope to defeat the Home Secretary's proposals in Parliament, but will continue our campaign in the country at large even if legislation is passed.

NO2ID is completely non-partisan and unaffiliated to any political party.

ID cards

08.08.2005 12:45

Every time I have heard George Galloway speak on the topic of ID cards he has simply said that he will never have one. Surely that would pretty much kill the thing. How would the government hope that make people comply if they can’t even make people in parliament do what they want. The idea that the average joe is going to pay £400 or more for an ID card is laughable even by New Labour standards. I will NEVER have an ID card. Why are they still wasting time debating this in parliament.

Refusing to register

With regards to adrhg oneaiugoha erg's comment. You may want to register the fact that you will refuse on the no2ID 'refuse' petition:

 http://www.pledgebank.com/refuse

The pledge reads:

"I will refuse to register for an ID card and will donate £10 to a legal defence fund but only if 10000 other people will also make this same pledge."

Just ove 11,000 people have already signed. For people who feel they'll have to register there is also another pledge here:

 http://www.pledgebank.com/resist

Which reads:

"I will actively support those people who, on behalf of all of us*, refuse to register for an ID card, and I pledge to pay at least £20 into a fighting fund for them but only if 50000 other people will too."

Good luck to the no2id crew - even though I can't make the meeting you have my full support :-)
