DALE FARM: EVICTION

POSSIBLE ATTEMPT ON MONDAY

I'm asking everyone who can to
come to Dale Farm and help us stop Basildon
council bulldozing plots on Monday
morning (1 August).

We are making a stand here not only
for ourselves but all Travellers in Britain.

PLEASE COME SUNDAY
afternoon or evening, and stay over
with us - or early as you can Monday
morning.

DALE FARM is located at postal code CM11 2YH
Take the A127 to Basildon, ask for Crays Hill,
then Oak Road. The turn off called Oak Lane
leads into Dale Farm.
By train from Liverpool Street to Wickford
(on the Southend line). Call me, Richard, on 07747417711
or Michael on 07931379640 - and we will fetch
you from the station.

BACKGROUND

Constant & Co., the bailiffs, evicted
families from two yards at Hoverfield,
Wickford, on Tuesday - and drove a
JCB through the fencing of a third yard
which was supposed to be protected by
a High Court injunction.

Senior police officers refused to
intervene, saying Constant needed "access",
despite the fact there is a lane leading
to the plot of land they were entitled to
clear.

Keith Lomax, the solicitor, has obtained
an injunction protecting 41 named persons
from eviction. Normally, this would be
accepted by a council as blanket coverage
pending the Judicial Review application,
even though a few yards are not covered.

But Basildon is headed by Tory Malcolm
Buckley, who has pledged to evict all 220
"unauthorised" caravans from the district.
The legal department stated on Friday,
"The council is giving no guarantee that
it will not take action against those sites
not covered by injunctions."

We have the law on our side - as Constant
has no right to come up the private Oak Lane,
which is not covered by the Enforcement
Notice and the warning given us all to Quit
by midnight on Sunday (31 July).

Lomax has written to the council warning that
any eviction attempt will breach the injunction
and be in contempt of the High Court Order,
and will violate our human rights.

BUT WITHOUT YOUR PRESENCE and the
backing of Human Rights Monitors, we fear
our children will again be terrorised and
our rights bulldozed into the ground.

Support Dale Farm

It is very important to support the Dale Farm residents against eviction.Traveller's way of life will be lost in the UK if they manage to close all sites and force people on the street or into council flats. Stand up for the freedom of movement and the right to live by own values / traditions!
