Last weekend I attended a Soteria Network Conference at the UCE Bevan House Building in Birmingham, during which I heard many lectures about Soteria, its origins, its aims and objectives, how it has been put into practise in the UK and Europe, its attitudes to the uses of medication for psychoses and how it has compared in its success against the success of patients treated by the current psychiatric methods.

The lectures are to be reprinted on the Soteria Network website, once this has been completed, and I will provide a link to them at that time.

Following the 1st day's lectures and workshops, some members of Soteria Network held a planning meeting the next day, at which the Mission Statement and Aims and Objectives of the Network were discussed in more detail, with a proposal to write up a constitution for the group, so that it can apply for Charitable Status.

A further meeting was arranged, to be held in Burnley Lancashire, possibly at the CVS building on Yorkshire Street, on 26th October 2005, 1pm - 5pm, and all who are interesting in learning more about Soteria and perhaps joining the network are welcome to attend.
