IM UK Pull Coventry Respect

An intended objective report on a Respect p ublicmeeting in Coventry last week was pulled of this site by the duty editors of the Indymedia UK collective. This is not normal for reports on parties and trade unions.
On this ocassion they appear to have adhered to the editorial guildllines literally. I hope that because the report presents good news about the prospects for socialism hasn't influenced their decision.
The pulled or more acurately "Hidden report" is at:
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2005/07/319366.html
It was titled - Gaining Respect: The Socialist Tide is Rising in Coventry
It was a factual report on a public meeting put on by Respect which included many who are not members of that party, and respected local trade unionists and activists who also are not members of respect, one of which spoke from the platform.
The reason for pulling it was most likely: "Hierarchy : The newswire is designed to generate a news resource, not a notice-board for political parties or any other hierarchically structured organizations."
Usually Indymedia do not pull reports about political meetings, especially when they are written by independent journalists, in this case, who has no connection with Respect, but the felt the story was an important one. It certainly is in Coventry.
The mainstream media will not carry such reports. Because IM feel it promotes (or is good news) about a political party, I will, when time permits, take their advice and edit out any material that could be seen to promote Respect or act as a notice board for it. I hope that is fair enough and apologise that I did not edit out this type of material.
.
I just reported the meeting as a whole. But it's worth mentioning that only one of the four platform speakers actually mentioned Respect. Any background by me was hopefully factual and objective.
