Report and info about the first direct action done on the 129th of july against the dam beeing built in iceland.

see. www.savingiceland.org
On Tuesday 19th July 2005.a group of approximately 20 of us hiked to the main junction approaching the site. Four of our group locked on to a pick up truck and a HUGE caterpillar construction vehicle. We managed to block 2 other access roads and hault work on the site for three hours. This was a first in Icelandic history:the police had to make up a word for “lock-on”. Thirteen of us were “detained”, apparently “arrested”, and later released without charge....with the warning that Impregilo were “looking at this incident with grave eyes” and were likely to make a civil case. Impregilo have since changed their mind. For a change, the media did report that the protesters were “friendly”!

I reccomend you search on the internet for some retouching images software, there are quite a few free.
Anyway, thank you for the photos, they are great!

Its not the size on the screen, but the compression of the file

It is the file size not the image size that slows down people on dial up.
Oh by the way. Thanks for doing this direct action. You are heros in my world.
Use the save for web option in photoshop

As you can see I am confused, I like the idea of indymedia but really it just seems like a forum for extreme left movements, hardly independent in the eyes of an independent observer. My fear is that there are millions of people like me who may believe in many of the lefts movements but are becoming disillusioned by the lack of progress from the left and lack of effect the left has on stopping the harmful elements on the globe. So these millions of people turn to the right for safety and results.
I know this is not on topic of any sort. Just a rant from an American wanted to reach out to the world.
Looking forward to hearing from the people of the world.

Trevor said that our barren nature was a treasure and that he would be ashamed of supporting ALCOA. Well ALCOA will bring jobs, ALCOA will bring more export profit.
Will you guys give jobs and such to the people of Iceland? I don´t think so.
Will you be here all the time and generate tourism profits for us if we save the sand and rocks for you? Highly unlikely.
Will you generate as much money for us as ALCOA? Hell no.
I love nature and especially snow and rough weather, I am a member of a 4x4 club and a member of a search and resque team. I travel alot up in the highlands, but I also have to make a living and get the most for my money.
I know I´m posting this way to late but I just had to say that you guys don´t know what the f**k you´re talking about. Just go back to where ever you guys came from, put on dashikis and handcuff yourselfs to trees you f**king hippies.
Get with the time, Icelanders no longer live on farms and eat pickled ram testicles all the time, were one of the richest and most technologically advanced nations in the world. But we don´t have millions of people doing the work, there are not even 400.000 of us so we need to work with whatever we can get into.

Get with the time - Icelanders no longer have to be prejudiced and ignorant as your comment proves you to be.
And I hope for a future for you over there, and me over here - doesn't matter that I'm not there and you're not here, eh!
