Who controls the controllers

Reference to ther posts

I followed this morning a series of posts onto the newswire concerning the editorial policy. It seemed that one of the editors got his knickers into a twist because a contributor dared to put him straight about a few facts. This contributors reward ? Complete censorship by the editors.

So I decided to do a little checking and research in my lunch break -we teachers do get the off hour off ! Lo and behold I discovered that one of the editors of IM-UK is none other than Roy Bard, the same man now calling himself FTP when posting. I will leave others to judge if Roy is a suitable person to be in control of the IM-UK editorial choice but I list the following:

In April 2003 Roy wrote an article for a French website where he claimed a French civilian was threatended with being shot dead by an Israeli soldier. The entire piece is considered by many to be a complete fabrication.

In May 2003 he penned a similar fabricated story for a US Far Right website called USA-exile which claimed an American Peace Activist had been threatended with being shot by an Israeli soldier. A retraction has never been published

On the network54 site other articles of dubious accuracy have been put up by him.

On the .insomnomaniac.com website we can read how Roy think the world's problems are the result of a "Zionist Concpiracy"

So a regular on indymedia is both left of centre in his politics and anti jewish. Doesn't exactly mark him out as unique does it !

What is your problem? Posts about editorial policy have no place in the newswire (obviously) and would be moved from the front page newswire (remaining visiable on the open newswire via the editorial guidelines page). The place for discussing issues about editorial policy would be one of the various mailing lists which you can access via the contacts page. IMC-UK-PROCESS would probably be the place for policy discussion if a proposal was what you had in mind. As for 'the controlers', it is possible for anyone to volunteer for the job via the various regional collectives which have an open membership. The controlers control the controlers as all decisions are made in a transparent and therefore accoutable way. You could find this out for yourself by reading the editorial guidelines etc.

Hmmm, I think I will

Well, with all the "facts" that you come up with, handily omitting any backup "research" links you have found.

I think I know exactly who to believe....

Not you!

Well done

Nice one Roy, write a comment in support of yourself and then sign it "Gary". That really fooled us all !

Has it never occured to anyone at IM that others might have ISP log tracks ?

LOL
