Iraqi Body Count Poem

I've just seen the figures on this site for the war in Iraq and stats just do me head in ! Human beings are what we are talking about here, pure flesh and blood, no more , no less !
Its heartbreaking and so wrong !
peace.

Iraqi Body Count Poem. by kevin raymond
25 thousand souls depart
To heaven in two years
I'm sure they'd rather be down here
With family, friends and peers
Take me out to a foreign land
Thats nothing to do with me
Let me murder women and children
To impose my democracy !
Hershey bars and HP sauce
Fly it in on jets
Blitz them with McDonalds
Napalm them with debt
Take me out to a foreign land
Thats nothing to do with me
Let me murder them with friendly fire
Its called democracy !
The statistics show the wars near won
Cos more have died this year
What about the living
Who live in constant fear?
Statistics are ball-shit stics
Human beings you mean
How dare you call them numbers
To do so is obscene !
Take me out to a foreign land
Thats nothing to do with me
Let me murder your statistics
Its called democracy !
peace.

Poem and numbers

I wrote to the BBC to complain they had happily published 'The Lancet's' findings that 100,000 had died in Iraq (that was months ago) saying it was a 'very respected source', (but unsurprisingly, the gov, disagreed with the figures) so now we have 25,000 instead. What a wonderful war it is that brings people back to life, the longer it goes on.
