14 July 2005

AMSTERDAM — Attempts by U2 singer Bono to break into the business world have attracted the attention of Big Brother creator John de Mol.

Dutchman De Mol's company Talpa has been involved for about a year in Elevation Partners, an investment company in which Bono also participates.

Elevation Partners has gathered USD 1.8 billion in capital to invest in innovative entertainment and media companies, news agency ANP reported on Thursday.

De Mol is one of the of the 'limited partners', a spokesperson for Talpa confirmed.

But the entrepreneur is not revealing how much money he has in Elevation Partners.

"This is an interesting investment," the spokesperson said. "It also compliments the Talpa's current vision".

De Mol was apparently involved in Elevation Partners from its foundation. Apart from Bono, the company's other backers include Fred Anderson, the formal financial director of Appel, John Riccitiello a former executive of games manufacturer Electronic Arts.
