Vigil in Solidarity with those affected by the London bombings

Mimi | 13.07.2005 19:30 | Anti-militarism | Anti-racism | Repression

12 midday @ Millenium Square
6pm @ Dortmund Square

Called by the Stop the War Coalition and Leeds Social Forum

This is an opportunity to express solidarity both with those affected by the London bombings and with the Muslim community who are likely to face 'revenge' attacks. It is an expression of our strength and unity, and an opportunity to isolate those who would wish to use the London bombings to erode our civil liberties or incite racial hatred. It is important for as many activists as possible to be there, especially given the events in Leeds over the last few days. We know that the mainstream parties will use the attacks as an excuse to prevent activists democratically expressing themselves; and the Muslim community will face further attacks similar to those seen over the last few days. Already the BNP has produced a leaflet exploiting the bombings to call for an end to immigration.

In the face of these attacks, we must show solidarity.
