London Bombings

A vigil was held yesterday by the Peace Statue in Brighton in support of those affected by the bombings on Thursday 7th July.
As peace activists, we in Sussex Action for Peace wanted to show our sympathy and support for the people affected by the terrible bomb attacks in London. About 40 people gathered at the peace statue on Hove Lawns today to show our respect for the dead. We listened to peace songs, held a minute’s silence and people spoke about the implications of the attacks.
We’ve always said that going to war in Iraq would make the world a more dangerous place – and now people living and working in London have experienced this firsthand. Our country has been at war with Iraq for over two years and every day there is like London was yesterday. There can only be a political solution to the scourge of terrorism and the first step is to bring the troops home now.
One day Brighton will stop manufacturing components for weapons that cause exactly the kind of carnage we saw yesterday in London.
