Police claim to have imposed a Section 60 on the Forth Road Bridge

The police claim to have imposed a Section 60 on the Forth Road Bridge this morning.

As they have been doing all week, the police are doing little or nothing to stop and search cars, vans, buses and lorries. They are picking on all pedestrians and cyclists though. This seems to be a way of being seen to be doing something, but not pissing off motorists.

There is a police officer stationed at every toll booth and they have stopped some motor vehicles, no doubt those where the occupants look like "dangerous subversives". This affects only those going into Fife though. They don't seem to be doing much to stop motorists coming from Fife.

A complete waste of money. Most of the officers must be extrememy bored, several have been leanign on the railings admiring the view rather than "protecting" the bridge.

Protecting the Bridge?

Agreed a complete waste of "our" money - raises one question though, are they afraid that someone is goping to run off with it (the bridge that is)?

they probably think

that people will try and climb it and hang banners etc...

Would explain the pedestrian only searching + odd few cars.

If the police thought that people might climb the bridge and hang banners then they would be stopping and searching all motor vehicles. These can contain large banners and large amounts of climbing equipment.
