an apparently co-ordinated series of bombs and other incidents occured across the capital around 8.30 to 9 this morning. mainstream media reports are very confused, but it seems that at least one bus has been blown up with serious injuries and probable fatalities. there are confused reports of more bombed buses - it seems very strange that these reports haven't at least been confirmed by mobile phone witnesses or even video phone images. on the other hand, there have also been reports of the mobile phone system being at least in part closed down. this may be because of fears of remote detonation of bombs as per the madrid bombings. on the on the tube system, reports are of a 'power surge' which seemed to cause a bang and masses of soot - six stations have been definitely affected by some sort of blast. while casualties have so far been played down on the underground attacks, it was reported that a hotel near royal london hospital has been taken over for use as triage and that casualties have been arriving at all london hospitals!
