London Underground Bomb Attack

A major terrorist attack has taken place in and around the London Underground, with bombs exploding on up to three double decker buses and through Aldgate, Edgware Road, Kings Cross, Old Street and Russell Square tube stations in London.

Reports of "some fatalities" and at least ninety casualties in Aldgate alone have been released by police and doctors in the last few minutes.

Eyewitnesses report that the explosion on the first double decker bus caused the entire top and back of the bus to be blown off, injuring people both on the bus and passers-by. Many people have been sighted around the stations "covered in blood" and emergency services are surrounding the area. Teams of doctors and paramedics are on the streets to deal with casualties, and it is believed that buses are being used to carry those injured and in need of medical help to the nearest hospitals, which are on alert.

The entire London Underground has been halted, and the roads around the area have been cordoned off, meaning that there is little or no traffic movement in Central London today.

At first, the explosions were blamed on a "power surge" but numerous explosions took place and it was soon realised that this was more likely to be a terrorist attack. Authorities at this time can not tell who was behind this attack.

The home secretary has described the blasts as causing "terrible injuries" which emergency services are attempting to deal with as we speak.

At the time of writing, it is believed that there are at least twenty fatalities, but it is expected that this number may increase over the course of the day. Police are attempting to move all people into nearby hotels and off the streets for their own safety. Mobile phone networks are under massive strain.

It has just been revealed that Stockwell Station has been closed after a suspect package has been found.
