this is a short pic report on our nice day trip to the country today. we visited the lovely town of auchterarder where a g8 protest march took place today... locals were friendly and joined in the march.... later protesters crossed the fields to reach the infamous fence around the gleneagles hotel....

Stefano Stop being a GM ass

Stefano - How dare you use this protest and your photo captions as a cheap comment on the GM debate. The farmer who's livelihood you have seriously compromised today was not insured for the crops that have been ruined in today's protests. Almost all local farmers support the 'Make Poverty History' protests and have done everything possible to help facilitate peaceful protest. Please respect those who have respected your right to protest! We are behind you BUT your have to respect us!!

who are the real invaders of the scottish fields?

Barbara, I appreciate your concern for the fields; and I appreciate the need to have support of local farmers etc. But as the picture below your comment shows, there is an issue of relativity here. My throw away GM comment was meant to be funny. The heavy machinery that has been used by the police to ensure security for the gleneagles summit - are you also concerned about them having an impact on the fields? And what about the climate change that is affecting all fields around the world in a very direct way? Yes, farmers' support is crucial for our campaign; but let's remind ourselves who the real invaders of Scottish countryside are...

We actually walked along the path of the tractor upto the fence. We did run through the crop to get away from the riotcops that were dropped by the chinook, but we still dodnt do that much damage mainly because the crop was wet from the rain, and we were getting soaked. As soon as you found a path you took it.
