Edinburgh, Scotland -- Police Were Prepared for Hotel Blockade: Protesters Disrupt Busses

Japanese delegates of the G8, staying at the Sheraton Hotel in Edinburgh, were met early this morning, by 60-100 protesters early this morning as they attempted to make it to the G8 Conference.

Japanese delegates of the G8, staying at the Sheraton Hotel in Edinburgh, were met early this morning, by 60-100 protesters early this morning as they attempted to make it to the G8 Conference.

At 6am, protesters intending to disrupt the delegates were out-prepared by roughly 100 police in yellow jackets, uniform officers, riot police, and backed up by police vehicales as well.

Minor roads were closed, and the hotel was surrounded by police. In a few different cases, small groups of protesters found delegate busses leaving and were able to block their travel for short periods of time.

A few protesters report being hassled and searched. An undetermined number are said to have been arrested after being dragged out of the street blocking the busses.
