indymedia decided to approach alex salmon’s office and ask for comment on the cancellation of the G8 alternatives demonstration.

Indymedia decided to approach Alex Salmon’s office and ask for comment on the cancellation of the G8 alternatives demonstration and they replied by saying he was going to raise a “point of order” and to lodge a protest about the cancellation of the G8alt demo during deputy prime minister question time in the London parliament.

10 minutes later...

Mr Salmon asked the speaker whether the Secretary of State for Scotland had requested to or intended to make a statement regarding the disruption of public access and the inability of the police to protect the right of assembly, the right of protest and the right to free speech.

The only answer was that this was a matter for the Secretary of State, who had not approached the speaker regarding a statement. No further information was forthcoming.
