Stop and search - a taste of things to come.

Anyone, from cleaners to bosses wanting to pass the front of the hotel, or turn up for work at their office behind it had to show some identification and give reason for their presence there. No ID meant no entry to the "sterile area", and if you happened to look anything other than middle class there was a good chance of a trip across the road for a more thorough going over (see pix).

Less than middle class

I turned up for work looking much less than middle class, as did many other people and was not put through any search at all. Did not even have an ID card. I think people are making much more out of this than what it actually is.

Don't get paranoid!

I arrived behind the Sheraton coming from Rutland Sq just after 9am with no ID and was politley questioned as to where I was heading, then let through without any problems.

Let's not get carried away here!

Pete

it's just the others

Don't worry - I'm alright and wasn't asked for ID. It was just the others who were taken away and put into concentration camps and killed in the gas chambers. Just another day in Orwell-land. Happy happy happy.
