Evaiding all political points the questions were soon reduced to ''So I here you are keen to try our fish and chips'' at which point I felt it necessary to intervene.
A chance visit to Edinburgh airport this morning proved productive and enlightening as the 'stars' are arriving all the time for their moment of charitable fame. I watched as bored media crews arranged themselves for the best shots and a small crowd of spectators started to gather. Some moments later (after two heavily laden trollies of unnessesary possions were weeled out by stewards) non other than James Brown and a couple of very made up minions appeared from the gate and were swamped by press. JB expressed his elation at being part the Live8 thing so he could play music and make people laugh because...''thats all that matters in life and I just wanna say 'ow! I feel good!''' and ''Blair is the prime minister of Britain (1point), Bush is our president and there is the other presidents of other countries and they know what thier job is'' Evaiding all political points the questions were soon reduced to ''So I here you are keen to try our fish and chips'' at which point I felt it necessary to intervene. I threw in 'do you feel that Live8 is taking the light away from the real issues of poverty and the conditional and partial debt being offered' he said something about music being just as important so I contered with 'the music here has been excellent and there were more people. The other press then asked him about the riots and how he felt at which point he made his way out. One of the press groups (stupidly I didn't ask which) asked for an interview which I did - don't know whether it'll get aired but they seemed quite keen...but then they are officially covering backstage Live8 and they are still the corporate media and highly proficient at fotage manipulation...
