A large convoy of Romany and other Travellers is currently on its way to Burrough Meadow to join the eco village there

Expected to arrive Wednesday evening the convoy has been formed to allow the Burrough Meadow site to become a permanent eco village for the benefit of all.

The Romany community offers its full support to those protesting against the G8 and will be bringing songs, dancing, story telling and some home made food and drink to help the party. There are about 35 caravans so far but many more are expected to join before it reaches the site

Thats is wonderfull news, if we can create a permanent eco site we can use it to educate those who don't realise the alternatives to the life they are leading. Can anybody else help with equipment etc ?

It is expected that some will bring horses for trading and try and turn this into a trade fair.

it is sad to see a comment associating Gypsy/Travellers with crime as per the media coverage they recieve. The media coverage is not the reality of the people i know and love any more than the media image of yesterdays protestesters as people intent on rioting is the reality.

Gypsy/Travellers are a threat to capitalism on two counts - disrespect of land ownership and rejection of wage slavery. the system treats the threat very seriously and as a result Gypsy/Travellers are the most oppressed minority ethnic group in Scotland.
