Police tryed to stop the anticapitalist demo at the very beginning, at the university campus. People tryed to break the police line. At the end people decided to march by other streets since the police surrounded the protestors and keep the for hours.

The police photographer photographed by eyes is a familiar sight in London. He has taken my pic many times and I have taken his.

not surprising

Look, it's hardly surprising that you get penned in for hours: you stand out a mile in black hooded tops and masks. It all looks a bit sorry and hackneyed. Are there a lot of people from Spain / Italy / Greece in the "Black Bloc"?

Too much coherence can be bad also

I really don't know if the block approach is the best way for making a stand, a cellullar approach can be made, police uses many element to stop a small group so instead of moving as a block, small and non coordinated looking-like groups can be more difficult to control, if the block scheme is maintained, police will always close our way and not let us advance.

Resistance and action!!!

Yo

Violence

The police did not, infact, try to stop the demonstration at the very beginning. Whilst the majority of protesters were peaceful, those clad in black, with their faces covered, attacked the police, resulting in them being detained.

Having been to many demonstrations in the past, the police acted impressively, with a low-key, non-threatening feel - unlike previous experiences. Those who chose to try and put forward whatever views they have with violence are morons ;)

Point?

You turn up at a 'dress in white' themed demo, dressed in, er, black, and then all move off together spraying anarchy symbols on stuff - and you got blocked by the police? Shock!

But really, what was the point? Why not save your confrontational tactics for when the baddies are actually in town? What was the point of trying to evade the march and the police on this demo? You could have just gone to another city and run around to your hearts content? Now you've all had your piccies taken and been ID'd as the ones to watch, and some of you have been arrested, before there could really be any point to your action.

I'm not anti direct action at all, but I really just don't understand what you were aiming for.

think and do

Go home

Scotlands had her share of marauding invaders -------just go home and leave quietly---we've got our own surprises for the G8

Shut your mouth, local patriot!

07.07.2005 18:38

Hey there you scottish patriot!
Don't you think it's a lot better to let people live their freedom, even if their actions don't suit you? I only wish I could be in Scotland right now but unfortunataly it's too expensive for me to get there (from Germany). All those demonstrators spent a lot of money and came to your place to show the world what they think of those poor G8 meetings. So spare your intolerant comments for a time when you're back in a pub with your scottish friends and let others decide for themselves which actions they want to be responsible for. Thanks.
