Greece: Kurdish refugee stops hunger strike

antonymous | 29.06.2005 20:50 | Repression | World

With a statement issued today (29.06.2005) Bahoz explains why he stoped his hunger strike.

I stopped my hunger strike today, 29.06.2005

The reasons for stopping were not weakness neither the dead-end of the situation. I believe that the struggle that began with my hunger strike (on 17.05.2005) has achieved a number of important goals, starting from my personal case and extending to the overall refugee issue. The solidarity movement built around my case proved and achieved a number of victories regarding migrants and refugees issues.

I believe that the hunger strike reached a point where it should stop both in order not to lead the solidarity movement to a dead-end and because my health is now in danger. What we wanted to do and achieve has already been achieved. What we should try to maintain now is the movement of solidarity towards all refugees and migrants.

I want to thank all comrades that visited me, both inside and outside the movement.

Greetings to all comrades
