A local branch of the Campaign for an Elected Head of State - Republic www.republic.org.uk has been established following a successful public meeting in the Town Hall - the first in a series as part of a national roadshow.

The Campaign is not affiliated to any political party, but seeks the introduction of a true democracy into the UK through the election of our head of state. For more information about the organisation see the national website.

The public meeting was a great success and prompted some interesting debates as well as boosting the membership of the local group who are now considering a series of local campaigns.
