Indonesian colonialism & Western corporate greed in West Papua (New Guinea)

Revd Socratez Sofyan Yoman, West Papua’s ‘Desmond Tutu’ and Benny Wenda, West Papuan tribal leader & independence campaigner will speak about the situation in West Papua on:

Tuesday 5th July, 7.30 pm
Friends Meeting House, 43 St Giles Oxford OX1 3LW
Tel: 01865 557373

“Our values have been trampled under foot, our human rights have been denied and for 42 years our freedom has been shackled by the power of the Indonesian military.

The Government of Indonesia, with the might of her army, suspect, terrorise, intimidate, harass, arrest, torture, abduct, rape, and murder the people of West Papua.

Indonesia just wants to take control of the land and natural resources of Papua.

In such very dangerous circumstances as these, your voices in England are the voices of help and salvation; they are like a fresh wind of new hope for us Papuans. You can help us so that we do not disappear from the world. Please do not allow us to be blotted out from the land of our ancestors.”
