This was reencoded from the mobile's .3gp format to mpeg1 using mencoder with the following command

mencoder ../mov00010.3gp -of mpeg -o mov10.mpg -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg1video -nosound -fps 25

They have come out speeded up. If anybody knows the correct mencoder incantation and can share that with us that would be useful.

I usually use a program called VirtualDub... link here-->
 http://www.virtualdub.org

Its free open source media editing software...
it allows for simple conversion and recompression...
important options are under video.. where you can set the frame rate to different speeds and preview output before recompressing....

For these clips be sure that the option to maintain the timed length of the clip is switched off...
